Regenerative Viticulture

Unintended consequences have been a part of our traditional viticultural and wine making practices.

Sadly we have not always been improving our environment, through increasing yields with modern sprays. Even focusing on using organic and biodynamic methods, we have rarely looked at the whole picture of what we're doing.

The first thing  we should be looking at is our soils, from this point of view everything else makes sense.

WHY?

  • Improve photosynthesis of the vines
  • Ensure minerals are efficiently absorbed
  • Improve water absorption and prevent soil erosion
  • Create a parcel of land with health longevity
  • Improve the vines overall health in a sustainable way
  • Reduce costs and negative impacts on the environment by reducing spray use

HOW?

  • Maintain soil groundcover & protection
  • Creating a diverse network of roots and mycorrhizal networks
  • Incorporate animals and/or their manures where feasible
  • Improving the soil bacteria through diversity
  • Encouraging biodiversity (insects, earthworms)
